Which signals should be recorded, at what sampling rate, with which sensor, and where to install it? These are key questions in product testing. When hundreds of measuring points across many vehicles need tracking, it gets complicated fast. With Porsche, we created the first commercial solution to manage measuring point lists without Excel. You start by building a catalog of basic measuring points and naming them. That way, everyone knows what “TvorKat1” means. Next, add variants for each product and its versions. Include images and location details so it’s clear where each sensor goes.Creating a measuring point list is simple after that. Pick the product and test, then choose the points from the catalog. You can also use rule-based templates to select points automatically based on set parameters. From the list, you generate orders for the needed equipment to manage inventory. Sensors and lists go to the workshop. Sensor installation is tracked with a smartphone app that includes installation diagrams, so progress is always visible. If changes come up just before testing, the system handles it. All lists and points are versioned and go through approval workflows to keep everything up todate.
